The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is fast approaching, set to happen on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This auction is especially important, as mega auctions allow teams to make big changes to their rosters every three years. As the IPL’s popularity has grown, so have its auction venues, moving from India’s major cities to international spots.

In the beginning, IPL auctions took place in cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru, which are cricket hubs in India. However, as the league expanded and attracted more fans around the world, auctions started happening in new locations, showing the IPL’s global reach. Last year’s mini-auction was held in Dubai, marking the first time the auction went to the Middle East. Now, with Saudi Arabia’s strong sponsorship ties to the league, Jeddah will host the 2025 mega auction, adding another international touch. Check out the cities where IPL Auction has taken place over the years.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Key Details

Auction Dates and Location: The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is the second time the auction is happening overseas.

Why It’s a Mega Auction: In mega auctions, held every three years, teams can only keep a few players (up to six this year). They’ll rebuild their squads with new players. This process is larger than mini auctions, so it takes two days instead of one.

Players in Focus: Many big names are expected in this year’s auction, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, David Warner, and Jos Buttler.

Team Budgets: Each team has a budget of INR 120 crore, with some amount already spent on retained players. Punjab Kings has the most money left (INR 110.5 crore), followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (INR 83 crore).

Squad Size and Slots: Teams can have up to 25 players, including a maximum of 8 overseas players. With 46 players already retained, about 204 slots are open.

Right-to-Match (RTM) Options: RTM allows teams to re-sign their former players by matching the highest bid. Punjab Kings has the most RTMs (4), while Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have none.
