The Rajasthan Royals have announced their list of retained players ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. They have decided to retain their key players, including Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma. Notably, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler, and India’s star legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal are not on the retention list. With this core, Rajasthan Royals are set to strategize for IPL 2025. Sanju Samson 

Sanju Samson was the franchise’s captain from 2021 and the team showed faith in their captain as top retaintion. In his overall IPL career, he has scored 4,419 runs in 168 matches, with an average of 30.68 and a strike rate of 138.96, including three centuries and 25 fifties. In the 2023 season, Samson had an excellent run, scoring 531 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.46. In 2022, he scored 362 runs with a similar high strike rate of 153.38, showing his ability to score quickly. Year after year, Samson has proven himself as a consistent and valuable batsman, bringing stability and firepower to his team’s lineup.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been an impressive batsman in the IPL, showing great potential and consistency with Rajasthan Royals (RR). In his career so far, he has scored 1,607 runs in 52 matches, with an average of 32.14 and an excellent strike rate of 150.61. Jaiswal has hit two centuries and nine fifties, making him a key player for his team. In the 2024 season, he scored 435 runs in 15 matches, averaging 31.07 with a high strike rate of 155.91, including a century. His standout season was in 2023 when he scored 625 runs in 14 matches, averaging 48.08 with a strike rate of 163.61, showcasing his aggressive style. Year by year, Jaiswal has proven his ability to score big and quickly, making him an essential part of RR’s batting lineup.

Riyan Parag 

Riyan Parag has been a steady presence in the IPL, known for his ability to score quick runs when needed. Over his career of 69 matches, he has accumulated 1,173 runs with an average of 24.44 and a strike rate of 135.14, including six fifties. Parag’s standout year came in 2024, where he scored 573 runs in 15 matches, achieving an impressive average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.22, with four fifties and a top score of 84*. His performance in 2023 was more limited, with 78 runs in 7 matches at an average of 13.00 and a strike rate of 118.18. Over the years, Parag has shown his ability to contribute runs quickly in the lower order, making him a valuable player for his team in crucial moments.

Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel has shown promising skills as a young batsman for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL. Over 28 matches, he has scored 347 runs at a strike rate of 151.52, with a highest score of 56* and two half-centuries.

In IPL 2024, Jurel played 15 matches, scoring 195 runs at an average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 138.29. He hit two fifties and displayed his ability to accelerate, hitting 18 fours and 7 sixes. His 2023 season also reflected his quick-scoring style, with a strike rate of 172.72 across 13 matches.

Shimron Hetmyer 

Shimron Hetmyer has been a dynamic player in the IPL, showcasing his explosive batting skills across three teams. In 72 matches, he has scored 1,243 runs with a strike rate of 153.07 and a highest score of 75, including four half-centuries.

In IPL 2024 with Rajasthan Royals (RR), Hetmyer played 12 matches, accumulating 113 runs at an average of 22.60 and a strike rate of 163.76. He had a highest score of 27* but did not reach fifty this season. In IPL 2023, he had a more impactful season, scoring 299 runs in 14 matches, averaging 37.37 with a best score of 56*.

His IPL 2022 performance was impressive as well, amassing 314 runs at an average of 44.85, with a highest score of 59* and one fifty. In his previous seasons, he contributed solidly for Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, with notable innings, including a top score of 75 for RCB.

Sandeep Sharma

Sandeep Sharma has built a solid career in the IPL with his effective swing bowling, taking 137 wickets in 127 matches with an average of 27.07 and an economy rate of 7.89. His best performance was 5/18, and he has taken four-wicket hauls twice and a five-wicket haul once. In 2024, Sandeep played 11 matches and picked up 13 wickets, averaging 23.92 with an economy rate of 8.18 and a strike rate of 17.54, with his best performance being 5/18. In 2023, he played 12 matches, taking 10 wickets at a higher average of 39.60 and an economy of 8.61. Throughout the years, Sharma has been a reliable bowler, especially effective in the powerplay, where his controlled swing often provides crucial early breakthroughs.
