Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, DC has retained four players: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel. 3 Players who can lead DC in IPL 2025

Shreyas Iyer

There’s a high chance Shreyas Iyer could return to DC as their captain. KKR released him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, despite him leading them to the title last season. Iyer has a strong history with DC, previously leading them to the playoffs and their first final in 2020. With KKR releasing him after their IPL 2024 win, DC may go all out to bring him back, with his bid expected to cross INR 18 crore.

Jos Buttler

Another strong option is Jos Buttler, who was unexpectedly released by Rajasthan Royals. Known as one of the league’s most consistent overseas batters, Buttler also has solid captaincy experience. Many teams will likely bid for him, but DC may view him as a valuable leader. He is expected to go for around INR 15 crore in the auction.

Aiden Markram

With limited experienced captaincy options and multiple teams seeking new leaders, if DC misses out on Iyer or Buttler, they could turn to Aiden Markram. The 30-year-old currently captains the South African national team and has previously led Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory in SA20. Markram is expected to go for around INR 6-8 crore in the IPL 2024 mega auction.
